Minerva-Res User Account
Minerva-Res is a secure, dedicated high-performance computing (HPC) cluster for Mount Sinai researchers authorized to work with controlled-access data.
Who qualifies
Your project must be reviewed by the Grants and Contracts Office and approved by a federal agency for access to controlled-access data, specifically:
- NIH Controlled-Access Data Repositories, or
- The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Research Identifiable Files (RIF)/Limited Data Sets (LDS) paired with a Minerva High-Performance Computing (HPC) Data Management Plan (DMP) Security Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ).
External collaboration accounts are not currently supported due to background screening security requirements.
To request and maintain a Minerva-Res user account, you must fulfill the following requirements and adhere to the project’s security policies.
Access Requirements

Prerequisite
You must be an existing active Minerva account holder. If you do not have a Minerva account, you must request one here (accessible via campus network or VPN) before applying for Minerva-Res access.

Agreement
You must review and agree to the Annual Minerva Restricted Supercomputer Policies and Procedures. Once logged in, navigate to Minerva-Res Forms and select Minerva Restricted Supercomputer Policies and Procedures.

Approval
Your Principal Investigator (PI) must approve your user access request by responding to the email notification they receive.

Users are restricted to accessing only the data specifically required for their approved research.
User Account Maintenance — Responsibilities for Users and PIs
- Maintain association with an active approved project.
- Confirm continued employment or institutional affiliation.
- Uphold all policy and Data Use Agreement (DUA) obligations.
