ORS Submissions 2017

Congratulations to the Orthopaedics Research Lab for a wonderfully productive ORS deadline! We are proud of the 10 diverse and exciting abstracts we submitted this year.

Sun Valley Invited Presentation

James attended the ORS Musculoskeletal Biology Workshop at Sun Valley!  He participated in the panel discussion “Grant Writing Advice for Junior Investigators”. He also chaired and presented at the session entitled “Problems in Orthopaedics: Degenerative Disk Disease” with Drs. Mak Risbud and James Kang.

Hiking in Sawtooth National Forest with Dr. Jim Kang and also with conference organizers Drs. David Burr and Teresita Bellido.

Rose Long defends her dissertation!

Congratulations to Rose Long for successfully defending her dissertation! Rose was very productive during her PhD studies and developed many elegant methods for evaluating tissue engineering repair materials for injured intervertebral discs. Her dissertation was entitled “Repair of Herniated Intervertebral Discs: Designing and Translating Annulus Fibrosus Sealants”.

ISSLS Annual Meeting – May 29-June 2

The 44th Annual Meeting of ISSLS took place in Athens, Greece from May 29th to June 2nd, 2017. Dr. Iatridis moderated 1 session (Disc Regeneration) and provided 2 podium presentations:Hyperosmolar overloading induces notochordal cell differentiation with osmosensitive aquaporin3 upregulation and altered N-cadherin and connexin-43 expression” and “Bioactive dietary polyphenol preparation for preventing painful behavior associated with lumbar disc degeneration: an in-vivo rat model”.
