Farewell for Yanyan
Yanyan has finished her one-year study in our lab. What an unusual year to stay in NYC! We had sustained with zoom meetings and online communications, and today we celebrated her accomplishment with a cake in our large conference room.
Zhuhao awarded MCHDI Pilot Grant
Zhuhao and Silvia received the 2021 pilot award from the Mindich Child Health and Development Institute (MCHDI) at Mount Sinai to support our collaborative effort, investigating “Brain activity landscape with cellular mapping: Probing circuitry mechanism in a mouse model of intellectual disability.”
Welcome Jiacheng!
Jiacheng joins the lab, having just completed his Masters degree at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Welcome Jiacheng!

Back to the Lab
We are now all back in lab full-time following a period of remote work due to COVID-19. During this time, we continued to meet virtually and make progress in our research together. For several months back in the spring, Anna also worked in Mount Sinai’s Clinical Laboratory running SARS-CoV-2 serological testing to detect antibody levels and identify candidates for convalescent plasma donation. Now, we are happy to be back to the bench in the Wu Lab!
Salwa accepted to FlexMed Program
Salwa was admitted into the FlexMed program, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai’s early assurance program. She will matriculate into medical school in 2022 after completing her undergraduate degree in biochemistry at Hunter College. There she will pursue her goal of becoming a doctor. Congratulations Salwa!!
Anna presents at 2020 BRAIN Meeting
Anna’s e-Poster was presented at the BRAIN Initiative Investigators annual meeting, conducted virtually this year on June 1-2.
Natalya awarded Raab Presidential Fellowship
Natalya was awarded the Hunter College Raab Presidential Fellowship. The support of this fellowship will allow her to spend the summer working in our lab studying Autism Spectrum Disorder through our collaboration with the De Rubeis Lab. Congratulations Natalya!
Salwa accepted to PrIMER
Salwa was accepted into the PrIMER program at Columbia University. She will spend the summer conducting research in environmental health sciences. Congratulations Salwa!
Welcome Yanyan!
Yanyan joins us from China after a prolonged quarantine. We look forward to having her with us for the coming year!
