Gabriel Caumartin is an undergraduate student studying behavioral neuroscience at Columbia University and Trinity College Dublin. He is currently pursuing his bachelor’s thesis under the mentorship of the Swirski lab. His research interests lie in brain-body communication and the neurobiology of stress. Since joining the cardiovascular research institute in June 2024, he has researched the relationship between stress and neurodegenerative disease and is now investigating the brain’s role in responding to cardiovascular pathology. Gabriel is a native New Yorker, and outside of the lab, he enjoys mountain biking, electronic music, and open-water swimming.
