An Atlanta native, Emma left her beloved rhododendrons to study biology and classics at Smith College. Following a microbiome characterization project in endangered South African rhinoceroses, she decided to pursue biomedical research as an NIH PREP scholar at Mount Sinai and is excited to now focus on the health of slightly smaller mammals (humans).
