Laura Koekkoek, PhD

Laura Koekkoek obtained her MSc in Neurobiology at the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands in 2016. She continued pursuing a PhD in the lab of Professor Susanne la Fleur at the Amsterdam University Medical Centre, where she studied the brain’s reward system and its role in control of food intake and glucose metabolism. During her PhD, she also obtained a degree in Nutritional Sciences in order to become a licensed dietitian in the Netherlands. After receiving her PhD degree in the beginning of 2022, she joined the Swirski lab to study how diet affects leukocyte functioning and migration throughout the body.
