Chih-Wen Chu, Ph.D., Assistant Professor (Research)

My research focuses on how planar cell polarity and apical constriction contribute to neural tube closure in the early vertebrate embryo. I enjoy cooking and hiking in my leisure time.

Ilya Chuykin, Postdoc

I am interested in signaling underlying the establishment of planar cell polarity in Xenopus embryos as a model system. I previously investigated cell cycle and differentiation of stem cells derived from mammalian preimplantation embryos.

Steph Yang, Undergraduate Student, Barnard College

Studying how physical forces contribute to ectoderm cell shape and morphogenesis during Xenopus neurulation.

Keiji Itoh, Research Scientist

I investigate how embryonic patterning, cell fate specification and morphogenesis are regulated by different signal transduction pathways. I like to listen classical music.

Miho Matsuda, Assistant Professor (Research)

Uses molecular and cell biological approaches and live imaging to study morphogenetic processes in embryonic epithelia.

Sergei Sokol, PI

I have been maintaining my interest to the signaling mechanisms regulating cell fate, cell polarity and cell movements in early vertebrate embryos

Satheeja Velayudhan, Postdoc

My research interest relates to genetic and molecular mechanisms of early development.  Among my hobbies are gardening, listening to music and podcasts

Sapna Krishnakumar, Masters student, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Mohali

Interested in the establishment of cell polarity during Drosophila, zebrafish and Xenopus embryonic development.
