Opportunities
Postdoctoral Fellow in Cancer Biology, CRISPR-Cas9 Screening and Epigenetics
We are now accepting applications for a postdoctoral fellow position in the laboratory.
The applicant would lead functional genomic screening efforts applying CRISPR base editing and CRISPRa/i screening to characterize synthetic lethal and resistance mechanisms underlying disease development, genetic and epigenetic biomarkers for lung cancer precision medicine, and signal transduction changes during disease progression. A strong background in genetics and genomics is preferred.
Postdoctoral research will be performed in a highly interdisciplinary and collaborative environment with world-class experts and advanced technologies and facilities, which provide unique and ideal career development opportunities for postdocs. The individual will engage in experiments involving CRISPR library screening, next-generation sequencing, gene expression (RNA-seq), molecular cloning, and eventually exploiting targeted therapy for human thoracic malignancies.
The ideal candidate should have:
- A PhD or MD/PhD, within the last three years with extensive experience cell/molecular biology or immunology, and experience in animal models.
- Excellent knowledge and expertise in cancer cell culture, CRISPR-mediated gene silencing approaches Western blotting, qRT-PCR, immunoprecipitation, high-quality flow cytometry-based assays, and molecular cloning.
- Experience in RNA-seq and next-generation sequencing data analysis is desirable.
- A proven academic publication track record, including first-authored publications at high-profile journals.
Application Requirements:
- Cover letter (2-page maximum) indicating current and future research interests and expected availability dates.
- CV (curriculum vitae).
- Reprints of up to two publications.
- Name and contact information of three references
Please send the application as a single PDF file via e-mail to triparnasenlab@gmail.com
Associate Researcher I in Cancer Biology
We are now accepting applications for an Associate Researcher I position.
The Associate Researcher-I candidate will participate in the research activities of projects aimed at understanding therapy resistance in lung cancer. The aim is to translate fundamental discoveries in the lab into more effective and durable treatments for patients. The Associate Researcher will provide support to all technical/research staff and postdocs but with a focus on CRISPR screens, drug dosing studies in cell lines and mouse models, and clinical sample processing for patient-derived xenograft development.
Required Qualifications:
- Master of Science Degree in Life Sciences or a related field.
- Previous lab experience preferably (but not limited to) in cancer biology.
- Proficiency in cell culture and standard molecular biology techniques.
- Experience with handling mice.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, problem-solving flexibility, and adaptability able to interface with lab staff.
- Adept at planning and prioritizing work to meet commitments with a keen eye for detail.
- Action-oriented and eager to take on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct CRISPR-Cas9-based genetic screens.
- Efficiently process human lung tissue specimens for downstream applications, such as RNA sequencing, engraftment into immunocompromised animals, flow cytometry, cell-sorting, and T-cell culture.
- Proficient in cloning and cell culture.
- Operate lab equipment such as Gentlemacs Cell Dissociator and cell sorter.
- Properly organize, catalog, and track the samples and update the lab’s database.
- Prepare laboratory solutions, stains, assays, and other supplies as instructed for research experiments.
- Assist with other ongoing research for peers and research personnel in the laboratory by completing tasks related to the projects within the deadline specified.
- Maintain excellent record in lab notebook.
- Purchase and schedule maintenance of equipment, instruments, and materials for the laboratory.
- Assist the Administrative Assistant in the generation of purchase order information for supplies and equipment by gathering information for online purchase
Application Requirements:
- Cover letter stating research experience.
- CV (curriculum vitae).
- Name and contact information of three references
