Join the Zhang Lab: PhD Students Wanted

Are you interested in using nutrition, microbiome science, and data-driven research to improve liver and metabolic health?

The Zhang Lab at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is recruiting motivated PhD students to join our multidisciplinary research team. Our work focuses on Food Is Medicine, MASLD/MASH, dietary interventions, the gut and oral microbiome, metabolomics, proteomics, causal inference, biostatistics, and translational epidemiology.

Students will have opportunities to contribute to NIH-funded and industry-sponsored clinical and translational studies, including our recently funded NIDDK R01 evaluating isocaloric navy-bean substitution in adults with MASLD.

We are particularly interested in students with backgrounds or interests in epidemiology, biostatistics, nutrition, microbiome research, omics, data science, or related fields.

Why join us?

  • Personalized mentorship and career development
  • Training in cutting-edge epidemiologic and multi-omics methods
  • Opportunities to work on clinical trials and real-world data
  • Support for conference presentations and manuscript development
  • A collaborative, interdisciplinary research environment at Mount Sinai
