The Mount Sinai Bionutrition Research Core (MSBRC) supports nutrition research across the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. We work with investigators on dietary assessment, the design and conduct of dietary interventions, data management and analysis, and education.
Our aims are to support high-quality research, encourage collaboration, and bring evidence-based nutrition interventions into studies that improve patient outcomes.
What we offer
Dietary assessment
Advice on collecting dietary data with food diaries, dietary recalls and food frequency questionnaires, using validated web-based and AI-assisted tools.
Dietary interventions
Help designing and running controlled feeding trials, medically tailored meal programs and other dietary interventions.
Data collection and management
Accurate collection and secure storage of dietary data, and help screening participants for dietary studies.
Data analysis
Computerized analysis of dietary intake, and statistical analysis and interpretation of nutrition data.
Protocol development
Help writing and carrying out the nutrition parts of a study protocol.

Studies we support
BEAN-MASLD
A randomized crossover feasibility trial of navy beans in the diet of adults with MASLD, funded by NIH/NIDDK. Principal Investigator: Xiaotao Zhang, MD, PhD.
Medically tailored meals in MASH
A multicenter trial of home-delivered, medically tailored meals for patients with MASH who are taking resmetirom. Mount Sinai is the primary site.
