Lowell Santoro, BA Clinical Research Coordinator

Lowell Santoro received his B.A. in psychology from the University at Buffalo. There, he worked in multiple research labs including Dr. Jen Read’s lab which focused on the relationship and behavioral outcomes of trauma and alcohol. He also completed an independent honors thesis in this lab which examined the mediating role of drinking motivations within the relationship of PTSD symptoms and alcohol use. While completing this thesis, he cultivated his interests in PTSD research and is expanding his experience with this topic as a clinical research coordinator in Dr. Yehuda’s lab. Lowell is primarily working on the Gene x Stress study which investigates how genetics and endophenotypes interact with the stress of trauma to contribute to PTSD risk. He plans on eventually pursuing a PhD in this field.
