Stahl Lab Team: Job Opportunities

Post-doctoral researchers

Two positions available immediately.

A position in the Stahl Lab is available immediately, with a primary focus on association and related analyses of GWAS and sequence data, and opportunities to develop and/or apply analyses ranging from causal variant inference, pathway analyses, secondary/sub-phenotype associations, genetic architecture inference, and risk prediction. Disease areas with active projects include bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and serum urate and gout disease. Large datasets are accessible for additional phenotypes including electronic health record-linked biobank data, and research interests in particular disease area(s) are welcome. This position requires extensive experience with large-scale GWAS and/or seqeunce data including QC, relatedness, population genetic and association analyses, and familiarity with UNIX, Perl/Python and statistical environments such as R.

Another position is available with a primary focus on modeling genetic architecture and methods for its inference from GWAS and/or sequence data, with applications to integration with pathway/tissue/subphenotype data, comparisons across traits and populations, power analyses, and genomic risk prediction. The researcher will be responsible for designing and implementing analyses of GWAS and/or exome sequence data, and for validating the analyses through modeling and simulation. Disease areas with active projects include bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, and serum urate and gout disease, and large datasets for additional phenotypes are accessible. This position requires expertise and/or a well-developed insterest in statistical genetics and/or statistical modeling, extensive experience with UNIX, Perl/Python, C/C++ and statistical environments such as R, and familiarity with large-scale GWAS and sequence data.

Environment

The Division of Psychiatric Genomics in the Department of Psychiatry is a multi-disciplinary research division at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. The Division is focused on deciphering the genetic causes of debilitating psychiatric diseases such as schizophrenia, autism and bipolar disorder with the end goal of developing novel treatments for these disorders. We actively collaborate with members of the research community at Mt. Sinai, including the Icahn Institute for Data Science and Genomic Technology, the Institute for Personalized Medicine, Genetics and Genomic Sciences and others, as well as with institutions and consortia throughout the U.S. and the world.
