The Lim laboratory focuses on understanding the pathogenesis of mosquito- and tick-transmitted neurotropic viruses, such as West Nile virus, tick-borne encephalitis virus, dengue virus, and Zika virus. Our research makes use of three major approaches:
1) studies in mouse models of infection
2) evaluation of human samples from infected individuals (DNA or plasma)
3) developing ex vivo models of infection using human organoid cultures.
Using these approaches, we are able to address questions regarding cell trafficking, cytokine control of infection, and cell-mediated immunity.
