The Lim lab focuses on understanding the susceptibility to viruses, including flaviviruses, paramyxoviruses, and orthopoxviruses. We study viral infections and pathogenesis by developing and studying mouse and hamster models of infection, evaluation of human samples from infected individuals, and infecting human tissues and organ cultures ex vivo. Major areas of research include:

1) Understanding the role of specific cell trafficking receptors during infection.

2) Evaluating how prior infections and immune status impact susceptibility to viral infections.

3) Identifying how maternal viral infections can impact pregnancy outcomes.
