The evaluation includes a clinical interview and medical exam by a study physician specializing in memory problems, an assessment of memory and other thinking abilities with a clinical research coordinator, and an optional research blood draw. Our evaluation also includes annual follow-up visits. In addition, there are neuroimaging studies aiming to examine the biological basis of memory and other thinking challenges. We conduct intervention studies for Alzheimer’s disease and Alzheimer’s Disease Related Dementias (AD/ADRD). All services are provided to our research participants at no charge. Our goals are to develop new ways to detect, diagnose, treat, and prevent AD/ADRD in older Asian Americans and other minority groups.
To achieve these goals, we:
Use standardized tests to evaluate memory and other thinking skills, adaptive functioning, mood and behavioral symptoms, and mobility
Employ a variety of neuroimaging techniques to assess changes associated with AD/ADRD
Develop questionnaires to capture the diversity within Asian Americans and other minority groups
Explore the molecular mechanisms underlying AD/ADRD
At this time, we are looking for individuals who self-identify as Asian Americans, aged 55 years old or above, and speak primarily Mandarin, Cantonese, and/or English.
