Dr. Alsalman is a principal investigator in the Neurorehabilitation and the Cardiovascular-Autonomic Programs. Her background is in auditory and cognitive neuroscience. She leads a study on how SCI impacts brain “resting state networks” that affect psychological well-being. She is skilled using electroencephalography (EEG) to measure brain function, and how that correlates with stress and changes in cardiovascular function. Her ultimate goal is to define biomarkers or resiliency and refining interventions to strengthen resilience.
