Jaime Chu, M.D.
Principal Investigator
Dr. Jaime Chu is the Mount Sinai Endowed Professor of Pediatric Liver Research, the Associate Chief of the Division of Pediatric Hepatology, Medical Director of Pediatric Liver Transplantation, and Director of the Pediatric Physician-Scientist Residency Program at Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital and the Recanati/Miller Transplantation Institute at Mount Sinai, where she mentors resident and fellow trainees interested in pursuing a career as a physician-scientist.
Dr. Chu received her B.A. magna cum laude from Harvard University and her M.D. from New York University School of Medicine. She completed her General Pediatrics residency training at Northwestern University/Children’s Memorial Hospital (now Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago) at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL, and her fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition both at Children’s Memorial Hospital and at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. In her undergrad, Dr. Chu was a history major and a semi-professional division I soccer player. Nowadays she prefers the game from the sidelines, watching her sons play.

Charlie obtained his B.S. from Stony Brook. University and his Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Glycobiology from the University of Heidelberg in Germany. His work focuses on the role of sugar metabolism pathways in human HSC proliferation and liver fibrosis.
In his free time, Charlie likes to play the guitar, cook up some new recipes, ski, and read up on modern physics and mathematics to someday unify general relativity and quantum mechanics. He also has a private pilot license.

John received his B.A. cum laude from Dartmouth College and his M.D. from SUNY Stony Brook University. He is currently studying the effects of mannose on CCL4-induced liver fibrosis. When not in the lab, John enjoys playing guitar, exploring restaurants in NYC, going to sporting events, and watching TV shows.

Shay received her B.S in Molecular Biology and M.S in Biotechnology from Brown University. She is currently investigating the role of NRP1 in biliary fibrosis and is looking to establish a liver organoid model for the lab. In her free time, Shay likes to listen to music and take advantage of the liveliness of NYC, while simultaneously fighting against the patriarchy.

Mariel Glass

Mariel received her B.A. from the University of Chicago. She is currently using zebrafish as an in vivo model to study biliary atresia, exploring the effects of mannose as a therapeutic agent. When not in the lab, Mariel enjoys baking, exploring new restaurants, and taking walks in Central Park.

Samhita received her B.S. in Neuroscience from the University of Michigan. She’s currently pursuing a M.S. in Narrative Medicine at Columbia University. In the lab, she uses zebrafish as an in vivo model to study liver fibrosis. In her free time, she loves to go to concerts, try new restaurants, and cozy up in a good coffee shop.

Camila received her B.A. from Columbia University in Biology and Psychology. She is currently a medical student at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. In the lab, she studies the role of mannose in hepatocellular carcinoma. When not in the lab, Camila enjoys dancing ballet, running or walking in Central Park, and spending time with family and friends.
