The project combines a randomized crossover trial design with gut and oral microbiome sequencing, metabolomics, and proteomics \u2014 offering training at the intersection of nutritional epidemiology, microbiome science, and translational hepatology.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\" dir=\"ltr\">The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead analyses of multi-omics data, contribute to first-author publications, and gain hands-on experience with clinical trial conduct from startup through completion.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\" dir=\"ltr\"><strong>We are looking for someone with:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"[li_&amp;]:mb-0 [li_&amp;]:mt-1 [li_&amp;]:gap-1 [&amp;:not(:last-child)_ul]:pb-1 [&amp;:not(:last-child)_ol]:pb-1 list-disc flex flex-col gap-1 pl-8 mb-3 print:block print:space-y-1\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<li class=\"font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2\">Strong interest in nutrition, the microbiome, or liver disease research<\/li>\n<li class=\"font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2\">Quantitative skills and comfort with R, Python, or SAS<\/li>\n<li class=\"font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2\">Background in epidemiology, biostatistics, nutrition, microbiology, or a related field<\/li>\n<li class=\"font-claude-response-body whitespace-normal break-words pl-2\">Curiosity, independence, and enthusiasm for collaborative science<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\" dir=\"ltr\">Prospective students should apply through the Icahn School of Medicine graduate programs and may reach out to me directly at <a class=\"underline underline underline-offset-2 decoration-1 decoration-current\/40 hover:decoration-current focus:decoration-current\" href=\"mailto:Xiaotao.Zhang@mountsinai.org\">Xiaotao.Zhang@mountsinai.org<\/a> to discuss the opportunity.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Internship Opportunity: Research Intern\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>We are on the lookout for a dynamic graduate student to amplify our efforts as we embark on a novel project centered on liver fibrosis using the Mount Sinai MASLD\/NASH registry.
