We are driven by curiosity!
Research
Our laboratory primary research focus is on exploring the potential role of our environment on thyroid health. We specifically focus on endocrine disrupting chemicals, including PFAS (“forever chemicals”), dioxins, flame retardants, pesticides, metals, as well as mixed exposures.
Our skills
We combine basic, clinical, and epidemiological research to investigate the link between environmental exposures and thyroid cancer, in a highly collaborative manner. Some of the skills of our laboratory include systematic reviews and meta-analysis, large database analysis, and building of epidemiological cohorts.
Mission
The mission of our research laboratory is to improve care and outcomes for thyroid (cancer) patients. The quality of care has improved considerably over the last decades with the introduction of high quality diagnostic methods, genetic screening, and less invasive surgical options. We aim to better understand the etiology of thyroid disease/ cancer and to improve the quality of life after diagnosis and treatment by introducing personalized management.
