PI: Won-Min Song, Ph.D.
During his Ph.D., Dr. Song was trained in statistical physics from Australian National University, and has successfully translated complex network modeling to large-scale biological data in computational biology. His network modeling works led to novel targets and mechanisms in gastric cancer, melanoma, asthma, neurodegenerative diseases such AD and PD, and infectious diseases. Currently, he works collaboratively on a number of projects funded from DoD and NIH as co-investigator or PI. Notably, he is currently PI on R21AI149013 to lead multi-scale modeling of influenza infection, and R35GM142918 to develop new frameworks for integrative network modeling of bulk and single-cell sequencing data. During his spare time, he likes to chill, go hiking to local trails and strum few chords on his Yamaha guitar.
Postdoc: Wangjie Hu, Ph. D.
Dr. Hu is trained in mathematics and population genetics. When the water is full, it overflows; when the moon is full, it wanes. He believes every method should be developed to a balance point.
Postdoc: Sunjoo Bang, Ph. D.
Dr. Bang is interested in machine learning techniques to analyze various bio-medical data, especially graph-based models. Recent research area is focused on single-cell analysis to understand mechanisms underlying various cancers. She believes that peace of mind creates the best adventure. Peace of mind comes from healthy routines, time with lovable people around me, delicious food, and sweet dreams.
Summer Intern: Catherine Chen
Catherine Chen is a junior in high school, attending the Bronx High School of Science. She has a passion for science and will be at the lab for two summers to complete a project. In her free time, she likes to play sports.
