With generous funding from the National Institutes of Minority Health Disparities (NIMHD) and the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), we are testing the feasibility and acceptability of culturally adapted breast cancer education workshops for African-born women.  We have adapted our programs from the evidenced-based Witness Project, and developed the culturally and linguistically targeted AWESOME (African Women Ending Stigma on Mammography Exams) workshop. Our programs – AWESOME and AWESOME – Wolof – have been conducted in partnership with community- and faith-based organizations in New York City.
