We are a collaborative research team within the Center for Behavioral Oncology of the Department of Population Health Science and Policy at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. We are led by Principal Investigator Dr. Jamilia R. Sly.

Our work is centered on understanding disparities in cancer incidence and mortality. Our mission is to develop innovative interventions to help reduce cancer inequities among medically underserved and vulnerable populations. Our current initiatives are focused on improving breast cancer screening uptake in the African-born population in NYC. We are also working to bring a streamlined “one stop shop” cancer screening program to the Institute for Family Health, a Federally Qualified Health Center network, as well as to community members by outreaching to low income and public housing residents.

We work closely with the Miller Laboratory, led by Principal Investigator Dr. Sarah Miller.
