Our Research

The goal of our research is to better understand the impact of cardiovascular risk factors, particularly type 2 diabetes, and related characteristics, on cognitive compromise, cognitive impairment, Alzheimer’s disease (AD), and dementia.  Our studies additionally examine lifestyle, blood, and genetic factors affecting the brain, and cognitive impairment, of older individuals.  In addition, the population segment of the oldest old is of special interest to our lab, since they are at highest risk of developing dementia but are the least studied in this context. Much of our data is collected in Israel, as our large-scale longitudinal studies, the Israel Diabetes and Cognitive Decline Study and the Israel Registry for Alzheimer’s Prevention are based on patients for whom we have exquisite detail on the medical history, bloods, diagnoses and medications.
