The Nucleic Acid Production Service (NAPS) at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is a controlled facility dedicated to the production of plasmid DNA and other nucleic acid reagents in cGMP-grade quality. The original purpose of NAPS is to produce, test and provide the reagents required for the generation of recombinant influenza virus vaccine seeds. Aside from the cGMP area, NAPS is also equipped with a satellite GLP laboratory specialized in influenza virus – and influenza-related samples – characterization and quality assessment.
NAPS is located on the 17th floor of the Annenberg Building at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City, as part of the Department of Microbiology. The facility consists of a 217 square foot positive-pressure, HEPA-filtered Clean Room for GMP work located inside a 644 square foot standard laboratory room.
