The Scientific Computing group is providing basic database services. These can be used in conjunction with the web services or separately to hold science results.
Currently, MySQL relational database service is provided using MariaDB 10.1.
The Scientific Computing group does have the ability to create custom servers for applications which require deep levels of specific versions of packages or other custom software, such as Oracle SQL Server. Server availability is limited and evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Please submit a ticket with your request by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
MariaDB is a fork of the MySQL relational database management system. It intends to maintain high compatibility with MySQL, ensuring a drop-in replacement capability with library binary equivalency and exact matching with MySQL APIs and commands.
The MariaDB database server pointer is located at: data1.hpc.mssm.edu. It may be accessed from within the Minerva cluster and anywhere on campus that may access the Minerva cluster.
To access within minerva:
$ mysql -h data1 -u userid -p your_database
To access within campus:
$ mysql -h data1.hpc.mssm.edu -u userid -p your_database
Database users are not synchronized with Minerva users at this time. To create users and databases, please submit a ticket by emailing email@example.com.
