Our objectives in the Cardiometabolism Research Program are to i) understand the molecular and cellular causes underpinning diabetic cardiomyopathy, its consequences, prevention and treatment. Dissecting these pathways will provide insights and opportunities for developing new therapies for diabetic cardiomyopathy; ii) to discover and develop novel small molecules suitable for clinical development as novel therapeutic potential to treat heart failure, diabetes and other metabolic diseases; iii) to establish a strong Cardiovascular Metabolism Program that fosters basic and translation research and training in cardiometabolic disorders and related functional genetics.
