Amy Kontorovich, MD, PhD
Principal Investigator
Dr. Kontorovich is an Associate Professor of Medicine in Cardiology and Director of The Center for Inherited Cardiovascular Diseases at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City.
Dr. Kontorovich is a physician-scientist whose clinical practice is focused on the diagnosis and management of individuals with hereditary cardiovascular disorders and whose research focuses on identifying novel genetic factors underlying cardiovascular diseases, including myocarditis, cardiomyopathies, and aortopathies as well as studying the natural history, penetrance, and prevalence of hereditary transthyretin amyloidosis (hATTR).
Dr. Kontorovich received a Bachelors of Science and Engineering in Bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania and an MD/PhD from Stony Brook University. She completed residency and cardiology fellowship training at Mount Sinai before joining the faculty. Dr. Kontorovich’s research has been supported by grants from National Institutes of Health as well as foundations and industry partners. Regarded as an expert in hereditary cardiovascular disease, Dr. Kontorovich has served as an invited speaker and panelist on the topics of genetics and genomics in cardiovascular disease at numerous regional, national and international meetings.
