Sarah Miller and Jamilia Sly, as junior faculty, work alongside Lina on various research studies related to cancer prevention and control. These studies include health disparities, motivational interviewing, and lung cancer screening behaviors. They utilize their experiences and expertise from different disciplines to collaboratively answer complex research questions through and interdisciplinary approach.<\/p>\n

Our research assistants, coordinators and post-doc fellows are involved in various research studies and programs related to cancer prevention and control including health disparities, and cancer screening behaviors.<\/p>\n

The outreach team is responsible for reaching out and engaging the community with our various education programs including the Witness Project of Harlem, Esperanza y Vida, and HONE. Our outreach team works alongside lay health advisors and role models to provide breast, cervical and colorectal cancer education and hepatitis B and C screening all over New York City.<\/p>\n

\"Team_5\"<\/p>\n

Our recruiters work to help patients get their CT scans and navigate them through the process by scheduling their procedures, walking them through the preparation procedures, answering any questions and other logistical issues that may arise.<\/p>\n

Our outreach coordinators and volunteers disseminate cancer prevention information at programs and health fairs throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx and Queens to reach people who ordinarily might not receive health care services, resources or information.<\/p>\n

\"Team_7\"<\/p>\n

Lina, alongside Ponni Perumalswami MD, are working on a clinical study known as HONE (Hepatitis Outreach Network). Headed by Dr. Perumalswami, this study is a community viral hepatitis prevention, screening, and link to care study focused on adult, minority groups in New York City who are at high risk for chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) and chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV).<\/p>\n
