max_width__hover=”100%” max_width__hover_enabled=”100%”]<\/p>\n Dr. Goldsmith is an investigator in the Neurorehabilitation and Cardiovascular Autonomic programs in the Spinal Cord Damage Research Center (SCDRC) at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He obtained his BS in Psychology from Missouri University of Science and Technology, his MS in Exercise Physiology from Florida Atlantic University, and his PhD in Exercise Physiology from Florida State University. Dr. Goldsmith has experience in both clinical and basic science research. While his PhD focused on the molecular mechanisms of neural injury in an animal model, he decided to pursue a clinical research postdoctoral fellowship. He completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at the McGuire Research Institute in Richmond, Virginia, examining the effects of electrical stimulation and robotic exoskeleton-assisted walking on body composition and cardiometabolic health after spinal cord injury (SCI). Dr. Goldsmith received his VA Career Development Award in April 2024 to conduct the first study examining the associations between endogenous testosterone profiles and neural function in men with SCI and the first study to investigate the effects of intranasal testosterone replacement therapy in men with SCI.
