Gallagher is an NIH-funded physician-scientist, a member of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (MRCPI), and a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine, and Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism. She received her medical degree with honors from the University College Dublin, Ireland, and Ph.D. in Physiology and Medical Physics from the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland (RCSI) through her research on insulin and insulin receptor signaling.<\/p><p>Dr. Gallagher's research team focuses on understanding and addressing the chronic complications of systemic metabolic dysregulation (hyperinsulinemia, hyperglycemia, and dyslipidemia). A major focus of the lab is to unlock the interplay between metabolic and endocrine conditions and cancer; to illuminate how each influences the other.
