Welcome to the Fernandez-Sesma lab!

The Fernandez-Sesma laboratory studies innate immunity by viruses evasion of human health interest, such as dengue (DENV), influenza (IAV), human immunodeficiency (HIV), Zika (ZIKV), Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) and SARS-CoV2. The main area of research is DENV, being the most important mosquito transmitted virus in the world for which vaccines are under research or antiviral drugs are not available. Additionally, the Fernandez-Sesma laboratory uses primary human systems, such as dendritic cells, macrophages, primary lung epithelial cells and tonsils for their studies combining molecular and immunological techniques.
