ORS also offers one-on-one consultations to assist investigators navigate the research [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":256,"featured_media":0,"parent":0,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"_et_pb_use_builder":"on","_et_pb_old_content":"<h2><strong>Institute for Transformative Clinical Trials<\/strong><\/h2><p>Medical research is generating new science at an unprecedented rate, which is reflected in a steady stream of novel drugs, biologicals, devices, and procedures that have the potential to improve patient lives and address unmet health needs.\u00a0 However, translating these innovations into practice requires a robust clinical trials enterprise, and there is growing recognition that nation\u2019s infrastructure is inadequate to meet the needs of 21st century medicine.<\/p><p>To address this crucial need, Mount Sinai has created the Institute for Transformative Clinical Trials, which has as its mission the design, conduct and analysis of innovative clinical trials that span the spectrum from early phase to confirmatory to large-scale pragmatic trials.\u00a0 The Institute has as an interdisciplinary faculty of clinical trialists, biostatisticians, health economists, psychometricians, programmers and regulatory experts, who look forward to collaborating with Mount Sinai translational and clinical researchers in the design, conduct and analysis of clinical trials.<\/p><h3><strong>The Institute can offer: <\/strong><\/h3><ul><li><strong><em>Expertise in the design and analysis of clinical trials<\/em><\/strong><ul><li>using novel designs including frequentist and Bayesian designs, adaptive modifications, bucket designs, novel pragmatic and point of care trials, registry-based trials, and EHR-based trials, among others<\/li><li>using a broad array of outcomes and endpoints that encompass imaging data, genomic and biomarker data, and health economic data, in addition to the traditional morbidity and mortality data. In particular, the Institute offers expertise in patient-centered outcomes, such as return to independent living at home, cognitive status, quality of life and frailty.<\/li><li>Using analytical approaches include Bayesian approaches to analysis of clinical trials data, survival analysis, hierarchical modelling, cost-effectiveness modelling, longitudinal methods for analyzing quality of life and neuro-cognition, decision analysis, and predictive modelling using \u201cbig data.\u201d<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li><strong><em>Expertise in the Conduct of Clinical Trials<\/em><\/strong><ul><li>The Institute offers a full data coordinating center infrastructure including expertise in design, coordination and monitoring, and analysis of multi-site clinical trials<\/li><li>The Institute has expertise in regulatory management obtaining approval for clinical trials by the FDA, Health Canada and the European regulatory authorities, annual reporting to regulatory agencies, IRB management for multi-site clinical trials<\/li><li>The Institute has expertise in the management of Event Adjudication Committees, and the management and reporting to DSMBs.<\/li><li>One area of special expertise lies in novel strategies to recruit and retain patients, and strategies to ensure the involvement of diverse and vulnerable populations.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li><strong><em>Innovation in the Data Collection Process for Multicenter Trials<\/em><\/strong><ul><li>The Institute has faculty with long-standing expertise in the design of electronic data capture systems that are 21CFR part 11 compliant, include drug and device tracking, upload features for imaging data, and EAC modules.
