Hina W. Chaudhry, MD – Director<\/strong><\/p>\n Hina W. Chaudhry, MD is a Professor of Medicine and Cardiology and Director of Cardiovascular Regenerative Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.\u00a0 She obtained Bachelor\u2019s degrees in Chemistry and Biology at MIT, and completed her MD with Honors through the Health Sciences and Technology program at Harvard Medical School.\u00a0 She completed her training in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Medicine at Duke and University of Pennsylvania, respectively. Dr. Chaudhry trained in Genetics and Developmental Biology at Columbia University, where she also became Florence Irving Assistant Professor of Medicine.\u00a0 She has pioneered the study of cell cycle biology in cardiac development and its application to the treatment of heart disease. Her laboratory was the first in the world to regenerate the porcine heart after myocardial infarction, with a 55% increase in cardiomyocyte numbers, using cyclin A2 gene therapy, the most extensive regeneration seen to date in large animals.\u00a0 Her lab has also utilized the phenomenon of fetal-maternal crosstalk to discover the stem properties of placental CDX2 cells which they have shown to be poised for cardiogenesis.\u00a0 Outside of the lab, she enjoys travel, pilates, and downhill skiing, and is multilingual, having studied 5 languages in her youth.<\/p>\n Sangeetha Vadakke-Madathil, Ph.D. – Assistant Professor of Medicine (Cardiology)\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Dr. Vaddake-Madathil is studying the interaction of trophoblast cells including CDX2 cells and endothelial cells to understand how the altered cellular function contributes to the progression of hypertensive pregnancy disorder preeclampsia.\u00a0 She is also investigating human placental CDX2 cells as a multipotent cell source for cardiac regeneration.\u00a0 Outside of the lab, she enjoys baking with her 8-year-old daughter and taking hikes.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Bingyan Jessica Wang, Ph.D. – Postdoctoral Fellow<\/strong><\/p>\n Dr. Wang’s long-term research interest is to study the hidden potential of stem cells and cardiomyocytes in order to unlock regenerative potential in cardiac cell therapy. Her current research continues to investigate these two cell sources with primarily focuses on 1) placenta derived Cdx2+ cells and their regenerative potential; 2) cardiomyocyte cell cycle dynamics with cyclin\/CDK complex stimulation and cyclin A2 epigenetics. Outside of the lab, you can often find her jogging in Central Park or along Hudson River.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Esmaa Bouhamida, Ph.D. – Postdoctoral Fellow<\/strong><\/p>\n Esmaa is soon to be joining our lab as a newly graduated Ph.D. from the University of Ferrara in Italy.\u00a0 We are all looking forward to her arrival!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n MIcayla Oniskey, Clinical Research Coordinator<\/strong><\/p>\n Micayla is a Clinical Research Coordinator for the Human CDX2 Cells and Cardiac Repair study. She is currently a graduate student at Columbia University focusing on biomedical sciences, and in her free time enjoys running, baking, and spending time with her bulldog.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Carolyn Quinn, Project Coordinator<\/strong><\/p>\n Carolyn Quinn, Project Coordinator, has had many years\u2019 worth of administrative experience, 10 of them at Mount Sinai.\u00a0 In her spare time she enjoys 1920s music and is also the Author of six books written in three different genres.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Hina W.
