These programs focus on inclusivity, accessibility, and empowerment, allowing participants to develop strength, confidence, and social connections through a variety of adaptive sports.

The program typically includes a range of activities such as wheelchair tennis, adaptive cycling, swimming, handcycling, adaptive skiing, and more. These sports are modified using specialized equipment and coaching techniques to accommodate different mobility levels and abilities.

Beyond physical benefits, adaptive sports foster a sense of independence, improve mental well-being, and create a supportive community. Many programs also offer competitive opportunities, allowing athletes to participate in local, national, and even international competitions, including the Paralympic Games.

If you are interested in participating or would like more information, please contact Garrison Redd at Garrison.redd@mountsinai.org.

Mount Sinai Adaptive Sports Committee

This committee plays a crucial role in fostering inclusive sports opportunities for individuals living with a Spinal Cord Injury, promoting awareness, and ensuring that our programs are accessible and empowering for everyone.
