A portion of our research is funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services <a href=\"https:\/\/acl.gov\/programs\/nidilrr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR)<\/a>; sponsors of other projects include pharmaceutical industry and non-profit organizations.<\/article>\n<article><\/article>\n<article><\/article>\n<article><\/article>\n<article><\/article>\n<article><\/article>\n<article><\/article>\n<article><\/article>\n<article><\/article>\n<article><\/article>\n<article><\/article>\n<article><\/article>\n<article class=\"has-cta-button has-lead-paragraph responsive-table custom-table\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW25483107 BCX0\">We have been instrumental in developing and\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW25483107 BCX0\">validating<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW25483107 BCX0\">\u00a0an international consensus classification of pain after SCI working with partners from across the globe.\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW25483107 BCX0\">This classification has been integrated into the International SCI Pain Data Sets and is the current standard for classifying pain after SCI throughout the world.<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW25483107 BCX0\">Pain is a\u00a0huge problem after SCI with the majority of persons experiencing chronic pain and there are fe<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW25483107 BCX0\">w effective therapies.<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW25483107 BCX0\"> We are testing novel ways of treating pain after SCI.<\/span><\/article>\n<article><\/article>\n<article class=\"has-cta-button has-lead-paragraph responsive-table custom-table\">We work closely with the National Center for the Medical Consequences of Spinal Cord Injury at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center. Investigators in this center have academic appointments within the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. We have co-located a Cardiovascular\/Autonomic Lab and a Robotic Exoskeleton Lab, directed by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/icahn.mssm.edu\/profiles\/ann-m-spungen\">Ann Spungen, PhD<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mountsinai.org\/profiles\/chung-ying-tsai\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tsai Chung-Ying PT, PhD<\/a>, on the same floor as the inpatient rehabilitation unit.<\/article>\n<article>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"color: #221f72\"><strong>Collaborators<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Mount Sinai Spinal Cord Injury Center works closely with many collaborators who are affiliated with the Mount Sinai Health System and with others who are outside of the health system.
