However, standard clinical MRI measures still incompletely predict disability and are particularly ineffective at predicting who will transition from relapsing to progressive disease. Advanced MRI techniques and ultra-high field (7 tesla) MRI offer the opportunity to observe MS lesions in much greater detail and have led to important insights into lesion growth, repair, and chronic inflammation. Ultra-high field MRI has also allowed us to observe lesions in areas of the brain such as the cerebral cortex, which had been previously inaccessible.

We use advanced MRI techniques and ultra-high field MRI in combination with analysis of CSF and tissue specimens to understand how lesions form and repair, with the ultimate goal of developing new treatments for people with MS.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”1_3″ _builder_version=”4.9.0″ _module_preset=”default”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.9.0″ _module_preset=”default”]

Contact Us

Erin Beck, MD, PhD

Assistant Professor of Neurology, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai

Corinne Goldsmith Dickinson Center for Multiple Sclerosis

Biomedical Engineering and Imaging Institute, Affiliated Faculty

Precision Immunology Institute, Affiliated Faculty

Location: 19 E 98th St, Floor 6, Suite E6C

Phone: 212-241-2474

Email: erin.beck@mssm.edu

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]

[et_pb_section fb_built=”1″ _builder_version=”4.9.0″ _module_preset=”default”][et_pb_row _builder_version=”4.9.0″ _module_preset=”default”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”4.9.0″ _module_preset=”default”][et_pb_image src=”https://labs.icahn.mssm.edu/becklab/wp-content/uploads/sites/418/2021/12/landing-page-v2b.png” title_text=”landing page v2b” _builder_version=”4.9.0″ _module_preset=”default”][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row column_structure=”2_3,1_3″ _builder_version=”4.9.0″ _module_preset=”default”][et_pb_column type=”2_3″ _builder_version=”4.9.0″ _module_preset=”default”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.9.0″ _module_preset=”default” hover_enabled=”0″ sticky_enabled=”0″] Principal Investigator: Erin Beck, MD, PhD The Beck lab studies how brain and spinal cord lesions form, grow, and repair in multiple sclerosis (MS) and other autoimmune disorders that affect […]

["post-22","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry
["GET
